How can I add or change the questions on my guestbook?

How can I reply to messages in my guestbook?

  1. Go to the Messages (m) section of the Guestbook Management page
  2. Click the 'Reply' button next to the message you want to reply to
  3. Write your reply and send the form

How can I remove messages from my guestbook

  1. Go to the Messages (m) section of the Guestbook Management page
  2. Select the checkboxes in front of the messages you want to remove
  3. Click the 'Remove selected' button.

How can I change the language in my guestbook?

  1. Go to the Layout Settings (m) section of the Guestbook Management screen
  2. Change the field 'Guestbook language' to the language you want
  3. Submit the changes

Now the dates and messages (e.g. possible error messages in 'Sign the Guestbook' page) in the guestbook are shown in the language you selected. Please note that if you selected a language that is not supported by Freebok, the messages will be shown in English. The supported languages are listed next to the selection box. If your language is not listed you can translate it and get rewarded for it, too.

After you have selected your guestbook language from the selection box you need to do one of two things:

Sharing guestbook management with another user

If the guestbook is used on a page that has more than one author it may be desirable to share the guestbook management with another user. Because the user account may contain your private information it is recommended that you *do not* give your account password to others.

You can share the management access to your guestbook with another Freebok user by using the settings on the Management Sharing (m) page. You can share your guestbook with five users and each of them may have different access rights.

What is the Recycle Bin?

Recycle Bin (m) protects your guestbook messages from accidental removal. The messages are not permanently deleted when you remove them from the guestbook or from private-, moderated- or archive lists. Instead, they are moved to the Recycle Bin. If you wish to restore the removed messages you may do that from the Recycle Bin.

The Recycle Bin will hold 50 latest messages sorted by the message creation date. As the Recycle Bin is filled messages with the oldest creation date are deleted. The messages are always deleted in a way that guarantees that the messages from the latest remove operation are moved to the Recycle Bin, even if they are older than the messages currently in the Recycle Bin.

Messages are permanently deleted if you remove them from the Recycle Bin.

How can I change the choises in the 'Found' selection box?

  1. Go to the Question Fields (m) section of the Guestbook Management page
  2. Make the changes you want to the 'Selection 1 choises'
  3. Submit the changes

Moving guestbook to another user account

You can move guestbook from your own user account to another account if you know the password for the recipient account. The transfer is performed on the Remove or Transfer (m) page.

Provide valid information to the question fields:

  • The name of the guestbook that you want to transfer
  • The account name of the recipient
  • The password of the recipient

Click the "Transfer" button after you have typed the required information. Transfer is performed if there are no errors and the recipient will become the owner of the guestbook.

How can I remove my guestbook?

  1. Go to the Remove Guestbook (m) page
  2. Select the 'I want to remove Freebok -guestbook' checkbox
  3. Click the 'Remove' button

Note that guestbook removal is permanent, all guestbook information and messages will be lost.

Update instructions for current users

Because of the recent update Freebok has a lot of new features. In order to make room for the improvements some old functionality had to be changed. This document describes the procedure how to continue using the service with least trouble.

The guestbook introduction ( i ) page will contain more information about Freebok guestbooks if you haven't used them before.

Please complete these steps in order: 1 - > 2 - > 3

[User Account]

The most important change is that the guestbook name that was used to log in to guestbook management pages is no longer used for that purpose. You'll need to create a user account.

In the new management pages you will be able to handle multiple guestbooks with the same user account. Additionally, you new account's name will be used to identify you in several places in Freebok services (discussion boards, buddy lists, etc.)

1. Create new User Account

create (m)

Select you account ID carefully as it will be used as you name in the service. Account ID's are case insensitive; if someone has already created an account with ID 'Juha' you will not be able to create account called 'juha' or any other variation that differs only by the character case.

2. Enter you account info

As this is a new account you'll need to enter some basic information. The single most important piece of information is the 'Secret question' and the related 'Secret answer'. This information will be used to create and send you a new password should you ever forget it.

[Guestbook]

3. Import your old guestbook

import (m)

You can get to the import page only after you have created the user account and logged in to the new management pages.

In order to import your old guestbook to the newly created account you'll need to go to the import guestbooks (m) page and provide your guestbook name (it is the same name that you used to log in to the previous management page) and guestbook password. If you have multiple guestbooks you may import them all.

The guestbook management itself has not changed much from the previous version. Some configuration items have been moved from one page to another in order to divide the options to different pages more logically. Other than that you should find the management pages pretty familiar.
