Update instructions for current users |
Because of the recent update Freebok has a lot of new features. In order to
make room for the improvements some old functionality had to be changed. This
document describes the procedure how to continue using the service with least
trouble.
The
guestbook introduction ( i )
page will contain more information about Freebok guestbooks if you haven't used
them before.
Please complete these steps in order: 1 - > 2 -
> 3
[User Account]
The most important change is that the guestbook name that was used to log in to
guestbook management pages is no longer used for that purpose. You'll need to
create a user account.
In the new management pages you will be able to handle multiple
guestbooks with the same user account. Additionally, you new account's name
will be used to identify you in several places in Freebok services (discussion
boards, buddy lists, etc.)
1. Create new User Account
create (m)
Select you account ID carefully as it will be used as you name
in the service. Account ID's are case insensitive; if someone has already
created an account with ID 'Juha' you will not be able to create account
called 'juha' or any other variation that differs only by the character
case.
2. Enter you account info
As this is a new account you'll need to enter some basic
information. The single most important piece of information is the 'Secret
question' and the related 'Secret answer'. This information will be used to
create and send you a new password should you ever forget it.
[Guestbook]
3. Import your old guestbook
import (m)
You can get to the import page only after you have created the user
account and logged in to the new management pages.
In order to import your old guestbook to the newly created account you'll
need to go to the
import guestbooks (m) page and provide
your guestbook name (it is the same name that you used to log in to the previous
management page) and guestbook password. If you have multiple guestbooks you
may import them all.
The guestbook management itself has not changed much from the previous
version. Some configuration items have been moved from one page to another in
order to divide the options to different pages more logically. Other than that
you should find the management pages pretty familiar.
